Duchess meets Jackie Chan as she turns on the style again at gathering for Chinese president - hours subsequent to taking the show at Buckingham Palace state dinner

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were joined by kung fu star Jackie Chan as they met Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife at an occasion to stamp the second day of their state visit to Britain.

Taking the show in a plum-shaded ribbon dress, Kate looked casual as she welcomed First Lady Peng Liyuan, a style symbol in her own right, outside Lancaster House, in London, where the gathering went to the showcase highlighting the innovative ties between the two countries.

Film symbol Chan was cheerful to address visitors as the gathering saw shows from a portion of the UK's most famous TV offerings, including Poldark and Sherlock, and talked with stars from the stage and screen.

This evening, Mr Xi will join the Prime Minister at Downing Street for a working lunch and converses with Cabinet pastors. The Government trusts the current week's state visit will secure more than £30 billion of exchange arrangements, incorporating colossal interests in base undertakings.

Today evening time the meeting dignitaries will go to a feast at Guildhall, facilitated by the Lord Mayor and the City of London
