NFF Offers Keshi N7m, Agrees To Pay Big Boss’ Assistants

NFF Offers Keshi N7m, Agrees To Pay Big Boss’ Assistants

The Nigeria Football Federation will offer Stephen Keshi a N7m a month salary and accept
to pay for all his assistants when its officials meet with the Big Boss’ representatives on Friday August 15 in Abuja.
Complete Sports gathered that Keshi’s representatives rejected the N5m offer made by the NFF when negotiations began on Wednesday but feelers from the Big Boss’s camp reveal that a N7m monthly pay will not be rejected.
Complete Sports further gathered that Keshi will accept the N7m because the NFF has undertaken to pay his assistants, especially Houndian Valere.
It would be recalled that the NFF refused to pay Valere in Keshi’s first official spell as Eagles manager and told the Big Boss he would have to pay the Togolese from his (Keshi’s) pocket if he insists on having him.
Keshi has already made it clear he would not entertain such a situation if he is to renew his deal. He also wanted firm agreement on the issue of accommodation for him.
Complete Sports gathered that Keshi actually demanded for a N15m a month pay when the NFF told his representatives they could only afford N5m.
Keshi’s representative, Emmanuel Ado in a related development told SL10.ng the coach’s new contract will be ready for signing latest Friday.
“Negotiations have going on well and we are very hopeful that in the next 24-hours, there will be a contract ready for Stephen Keshi to sign,” he said on Thursday.
“The talks have been progressive and Keshi’s lawyer will take a look at the final draft of the contract once it is ready so I don’t think we have any problems there.”
Meanwhile, he went on to say that they haven’t asked for a N10m monthly salary, but insists that Keshi is not N5m Coach.
“There was never a time we asked for 10million Naira and Keshi shouldn’t be portrayed as a money monger.
“But be that as it may, I insist that Keshi is not a 5million Naira Coach, neither is he a 10 million Naira Coach. But there are a lot of issues besides money that has to be sorted and that is what Keshi is asking for,” he posited.
On the part of the NFF, their chief negotiator ‘Deji Tinubu has refused to speak on the finer details of the contract, but reacted to the position of Keshi’s camp that the former Nigeria captain is not a N5m Coach after it emerged that was the NFF’s opening offer.
He says: “I cannot talk about the details of the contract yet until it is ready and signed. We have to keep the confidentiality of the deal but we have to deliberate on it and get back to them so it can be signed as soon as possible.
“If somebody says he’s going to pay his staff a particular amount, it is alright for the employee to reject it because he or she probably has a valuation of his or herself.
“They’ve come to us with something but we will get back to them with what we can afford and what we think is adequate,” Tinubu said.
