New INEC Chairman Pledges To Hold Credible Elections


The new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has guaranteed to combine on the additions of the commission by directing tenable races. Talking in Abuja on Monday not long after assuming control over the issues of the commission from its Acting Chairman, Mrs Amina Zakari, Professor Yakubu guaranteed Nigerians that the commission would be guided by the constitution and the Electoral Act in the behavior of all decisions.

"Mr President, we promise our dedication to the release of our obligations without apprehension or support.

"Free, reasonable and sound decision is at the heart of our country's advancement and dependability. We should not fall flat the country," he said.

Likewise talking at the giving over service, the previous Acting Chairman said the commission was at that point arranged for the behavior of the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship races.

Amid the swearing in of Professor Yakubu, President Buhari swore to regard the freedom of the discretionary body and guaranteed to give the commission all the bolster it may require.
