Tour Championship: Rory McIlroy chases FedEx Cup glory in Atlanta

World number one Rory McIlroy is one of five men aiming to clinch the FedEx Cup title with victory at this week's Tour Championship in Atlanta.
McIlroy, 25, sits fourth in the FedEx Cup standings  behind Chris Kirk, Billy Horschel and Bubba Watson and is just one win away from a £6m windfall.
"The money is great but at the same time it's the title that would mean more," the Northern Irishman said.
"It's good being in the top five, you know what you need to do."

FedEx Cup top five after three of four events

1. Chris Kirk (US)
4,314 points
2. Billy Horschel (US)
4,305
3. Bubba Watson (US)
4,058
4. Rory McIlroy (NI)
3,735
5. Hunter Mahan (US)
3,363
McIlroy won his fourth major title, and third tournament in succession in the US PGA Championship at Valhalla, but has finished 22nd, fifth and eighth in the first three play-offs, and four-putted the 12th hole in each of the last two rounds at the BMW Championship in Denver last week.
"Being in the top five was important coming in," McIlroy added.
"I would have liked to be a bit higher on the list but haven't played well enough over the past few weeks."
Hunter Mahan, currently in fifth, is the last player who can wrap up the FedEx Cup with a win in the play-off finale, which starts on Thursday.
Although all 29 players at East Lake have the chance to land the overall title.
But only those in the top five control their own destiny as they bid to emulate Sweden's Henrik Stenson, who led from start to finish in the play-off battle last year to land the lucrative prize ahead of Tiger Woods.

Previous FedEx Cup winners

2011: Bill Haas
2010: Jim Furyk
2009: Tiger Woods
2008: Vijay Singh
2009: Tiger Woods
"You need to win and that takes care of everything," McIlroy added. "I want to win and I only have to beat 28 other guys, it's not like a regular event where you have to beat 155.
"I don't think the money will make me any more nervous on the golf course on Sunday.
"But winning the FedEx is one of the only things that I have not achieved in the game of golf and that's the real reason I want to win this week."
