Carl Frampton said he was hesitant to give Scott Quigg a rematch, after the Belfast warrior outpointed his opponent to bind together the super-bantamweight division.

Frampton beat Bury's Quigg, who had been unbeaten, by means of a split choice in Manchester to add the WBA title to the IBF title he effectively claimed.

"In the event that I need to have a rematch and the general population requests it, no issue," Frampton, 29, said.

Be that as it may, I'd rather proceed onward to greater and better things. The world's our clam."

Frampton's administrator, Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan, was more unequivocal, saying an arrival session with Quigg was "not appealing".

"We have to step it up to another level," McGuigan included. "Leo Santa Cruz [Mexico's WBA featherweight champion] is an undeniable battle.

"Dissimilar to Scott Quigg, Santa Cruz gives up, he's not reluctant to submit. He's a volume puncher, strolls you down and that would be a remarkable cash battle.

"Hopefully we will get him here. Belfast would be awesome. What's more, perhaps we could do the rematch at Madison Square Garden."
